Bridgestone’s motorsport journey began in the 1960s, initially supporting domestic racing in Japan. By the 1970s, the brand expanded into international competitions, supplying tires for events like the MotoGP World Championship and endurance racing. A major milestone came in the 1990s, when Bridgestone entered the pinnacle of motorsport: Formula 1.

The company made its F1 debut in 1997, providing tires to several teams. Just a year later, Bridgestone-equipped cars began winning races and, in 1998, celebrated its first F1 World Championship victory with Mika Häkkinen and McLaren-Mercedes.
