Founding and Early Years (1991–1993)

Jordan Grand Prix was founded by Irish businessman Eddie Jordan and entered Formula 1 in 1991. Based in Silverstone, England, the team quickly gained a reputation for its vibrant yellow cars and lively team spirit. Its debut season was impressive — scoring points with drivers like Andrea de Cesaris and famously giving Michael Schumacher his first F1 start at the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix.

Rise Through the Ranks (1994–1998)

Through the mid-1990s, Jordan established itself as a solid midfield contender. The team switched from Hart to Peugeot engines in 1995 and then to Mugen-Honda power in 1998, which proved pivotal. That year, with Damon Hill and Ralf Schumacher, Jordan claimed its first Formula 1 victory at the 1998 Belgian Grand Prix.

Peak Years (1999–2000)

The 1999 season was Jordan’s best. Heinz-Harald Frentzen emerged as a title contender, taking two wins (France and Italy) and finishing third in the Drivers’ Championship, while Jordan finished third in the Constructors’ standings — the team’s highest-ever result.

Decline and Sale (2001–2005)

In the 2000s, financial struggles and loss of major sponsors began to hurt the team. Engine partnerships with Honda, Ford (as Cosworth), and later Toyota failed to restore competitiveness. Despite a surprise win for Giancarlo Fisichella at the 2003 Brazilian Grand Prix, Jordan faded toward the back of the grid.

By 2005, mounting costs forced Eddie Jordan to sell the team to Midland Group, ending Jordan Grand Prix’s 15-year run in F1. The outfit later became Midland F1, then Spyker, and ultimately evolved into Force India, Racing Point, and today’s Aston Martin F1 Team.
